 HOMILY FOR MONDAY OF THE 3RD WEEK OF EASTER Acts 6:8-15; Ps.119; John 6:22-29 Theme: Do not resist the Good The dispute about the daily distribution of food threatened the unity of the believers and so attracted the prompt action of the disciples. But it seems that some persons were not at home with the restoration of peace in the community. Today, we read about Stephen, one of the seven deacons selected for the daily distribution of food. It is said that he was full of grace and power, and did great wonders and signs among the people. This means that Stephen did his work well. Yet, some members of the synagogue made case with him. It has become a common experience to find people who delight in the disorganization of any assembly. Sometimes, they pretend to be fighting a just cause but the manner they go about it reveals that they have ulterior motives. Such people will always see problem where there is no problem.
